Overview & History

 

Equestrian Queensland Inc (EQ) (originally known as The Equestrian Federation of Australia (Queensland Branch) Inc) is a non-profit organisation incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act of Queensland.  EQ was established in 1951 and incorporated in 1986.

Equestrian Queensland (EQ) is the peak body for horse sports in Queensland and is the state body of Equestrian Australia (EA).  EA is the controlling body for horse sports in Australia and is affiliated with the Federation Equestre Internationale (FEI), the international controlling body for equestrian sports.  

EQ also maintains affiliations with relevant Government and Non-Government agencies at the State level such as the Queensland Olympic Council, the Sports Federation of Queensland (QSport) and Queensland Horse Industry Alliance (QHIA).

EQ provides a broad range of benefits and services to our membership which comprises of individual members (2800+), affiliated clubs and schools (300), coaches and officials and embraces the eight horse sports comprising of:

EQ's mission is to promote, grow and develop equestrian sports in Queensland with the vision of being the leaders in delivering relevant, representative and inclusive equestrian sports. Our Strategic Objectives are to:

  • Increase participation across all levels of the sport
  • Raise the standard of excellence in the sport
  • Maintain financial sustainability cross all levels of the sport
  • Deliver and improve value to all members
