Region Reports

Darling Downs

Well, our Regional Championships went off well on May 11-13th. Toowoomba turned on the beautiful weather for us, which was a nice change. Quite a few people were heard muttering about how warm it was !!! Unheard of in Toowoomba ……………
A HUGE thank you to everyone involved with helping run our event – be it committee, sponsors, competitors, parents and all helpers, paid & unpaid !!! Your help is much appreciated. I would also like to mention Katherine Plomer from EQ, who was very efficient & helpful, & Amy & Kaitlin from Nominate – nothing was too much trouble & they always got back to us, & quite cheerily kept putting up revised draw after revised draw !!!
We saw some great rides over the course of the competition, & also some great team spirit & sportsmanship. There were quite a few newcomers to the sport of Interschool, & I hope they felt welcome & learnt from the DD experience.
I would also like to thank our sponsors – we had 2 IQ state sponsor representatives in Paul Smith & Equissage on the grounds, with banners & literature from the other major sponsors, DRB Floats & Tophorse.( see Tophorse on Facebook & web for some pics & results ). We also had some great local sponsors for the event being Easternwell, Regency Warmbloods, K & R Plumbing, Davidson Equestrian & The Scots PGC, Warwick.
As well as great sportsmanship, there was also much rivalry come presentation time – many of the teams results were quite close, proving that it really was anyone’s competition – see major results below. Full results are available on the EQ website.

Central Queensland - Wide Bay

Well we had a great ODE on the May long weekend – lots of riders having a hit out on the new course. Unfortunately the ground was still quite wet so a couple of the new jumps were pulled on the day, but all in all it was a good 2 days.
Numbers are coming in for the 1st Wide Bay Regional Championships to be held at the Dundowran Equestrian Grounds on the June long weekend. The program is up on Nominate and closes on the 31st of May. All disciplines will be covered over the weekend and we have done our best not to clash with other events! So if you are still chasing qualifiers for State – come along for a very relaxing weekend.
Looking forward to seeing all you of soon either at Wide Bay or at State in Maryborough.

 Central Queensland - Capricornia

On the 5th and 6th of May five of the CQ riders went down to Maryborough for the ODE, despite the conditions due to the unfortunate down pour the day before completion all 5 competitors returned home safely from cross country, all enjoyed the beautiful cross country course and where very surprised with the changes that have been made and the new jumps that have been built so big congratulations to all involved with the upgrade of this course.
On the 12th & 13th of May we run the final leg of the C.Q regional’s being the eventing, this was held on the beautiful Yeppoon pony club course, it was a great weekend and Brendan Croese the course builder for this event did a fantastic job as per usual.
