Carly-Mae Pye honoured by the sport and club she loved

Carly-Mae was an inspiration to riders in Central Queensland, and even more so at her home club of Yeppoon. At the club's One Day Event held over the weekend, the Carly-Mae Prepetual Trophy was awarded to honour her contribution to Eventing and to the club.

Carly-Mae spent her life with horses, and tragically it was while working with horses that her life came to an end on October 14 at the nearby Callaghan Park racetrack in Rockhampton.

Carly-Mae had a gift, a way with horses, and she was using this gift to re-educate racehorses, and introduce them to other areas of her equine world. Many finding their way to the Equestrian sport of Eventing.

My True Obsession made it's way from the Pye family and Carly-Mae's experienced training to Abigail Donaldson, who this year was the inaugural winner of the Carly-Mae trophy.

It's hard to believe that twelve months ago Carly-Mae and My True Obsession were competitors at the event. Carly-Mae competing in EvA80 on My Spirited Obsession, and Abigail and My True Obsession taking out 7th place in the EvA95 class.

Carly-Mae's family - Cherie, Daniel and Holly, and her life's partner - Tim Cook where at the Yeppoon club over the weekend doing what all eventing families do on the weekend, and that is helping out. It was a bonus for them to witness Abigail and My True Obsession taking first place in EvA105 class.

Rest in Peace Carly-Mae, for your legacy will live on!
