Committee recommends against mandatory Hendra Vaccinations

The Queensland Parliament’s Agriculture and Environment Committee has delivered a report with eleven recommendations, following an eight month parliamentary inquiry into the Hendra Virus Vaccine and its use by veterinary surgeons in Queensland.

Equestrian Queensland welcomes the recommendations that preserve stakeholders right of choice and improves processes in reporting and product scrutiny to restore confidence. Further consideration will be given to the details of the full report.

In accordance with the Parliament of Queensland Act 2001, s.107, the responsible minister (Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries) is required to table in Parliament a written response to the committee’s report within three months of tabling.
