Embracing 2018 Officiating Forum
Umpires, referees, coaches, officials, competition administrators and sport industry professionals are invited to attend the free Embracing 2018 Sports Officiating Forums.
These forums will provide the opportunity to learn from some of the best officials in the business.
The Embracing 2018 Sports Officiating Forums, in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is a free community initiative under the Embracing 2018 Legacy Program for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. High profile umpires, referees and other sport personalities across a variety of sports (not just Commonwealth Games sports) will draw on their experiences from events such as Grand Slams, World Cups, Olympics and Commonwealth Games. The forums will provide insight into:
- How to better recruit, retain and support officials at a grassroots level
- The journey of an elite sports official, their own experiences and challenges
- The results of the ASC 2016 Officiating Survey and how this applies to the Queensland sporting landscape
- Why raising the profile of officiating is important to growing your sport.
Draw on the knowledge and experiences of these officials to assist in implementing strategies within your own officiating development programs.
