EA's FEI Officials Assistance Fund 2015-2016

Equestrian Australia is pleased to announce that this year again $10,000 has been allocated to assist EA members attend FEI Officials courses internationally. This fund has been set up to assist in the succession planning and development of FEI officials for Australia by providing financial assistance to individuals who are required to travel internationally for FEI courses.

All currently accredited EA Level 3 Officials and FEI Officials are eligible to apply for the grant which will provide successful applicants between $250-$1500. The amount awarded may be dependent on the number of applicants and expenses identified by each applicant. In reviewing the applications, consideration will be given to officials who were not able to attend local courses in Australia and New Zealand due to the caps on participant numbers imposed by the FEI, and whether certain courses are being conducted in the region. EA will also look at providing this funding to those getting their start in the international officiating levels of the sport as part of the succession planning EA is eager to build on.

The priorities for allocating funding assistance are:

1) National level officials gaining first time promotion to FEI (accrediting)

2) Current FEI officials gaining promotion to a higher level (promoting)

3) Current FEI officials maintaining current status (refreshing)

In addition to the primary priorities listed above, applications will be further evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. The availability of courses conducted in Australia for the specific officiating role, level and discipline. For example:
    • Australia may not be able to viably conduct a course due to the number of officials in that discipline, role or level, and so overseas travel is required by these officials.
    • Australia may not be conducting a course for a particular discipline or role in the 2015-16 financial year.

Applicants must be current EA members, current EA practicing officials and will need to provide details of the FEI course they will be attending (or have attended), including a full budget of travel, accommodation and course expenses.

Dates for Submission :

The assistance fund will be allocated in two different periods to account for dates not yet known for FEI courses in 2015/16. The closing dates for these two periods will be:

Round 1: Friday 4 December 2015

Round 2: Friday 15 April 2016

Applicants will be notified of the outcome within two weeks of the closing date.

Funding can be awarded retrospectively for courses that have already been attended, but is only available for courses that occur between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2016 (where costs are paid prior to 20th June 2015). Unsuccessful applications from Round 1 will automatically be considered in Round 2.

Successful applicants will be required to provide Equestrian Australia with high resolution photos and a report of the course they attend and agree to have their photo and official credentials used in promotion material by Equestrian Australia.
