Naomi (Lockhart) Lane grew up in Canberra and started riding from a very young age.  As a enthusiastic and passionate pony clubber, Naomi had a particular interest in Dressage and worked at local riding schools and competed in local shows and gymkhanas.

Following the completion of Horse Husbandry and Management studies and an Associate Diploma in Agriculture, Naomi’s earlier career included work as a Stud Manager and Trainer at a couple of large and lucrative Quarter Horse and Thoroughbred Studs in Western Victoria.

Naomi has been active on several riding, breeding and organisational committees and joins the Equestrian Queensland Board with a focus on improving the spotlight and increasing participation in all Equestrian sports in Queensland, and ensuring fairness, equity and legitimacy.

Naomi rides competitive local dressage when time allows, and trains weekly with her coach on two home bred Hanoverian mares.  She has travelled to, and ridden in Germany which has created wonderful memories and learnings, and toured to many young horse and breed shows in Europe.

With over 33 years’ experience as a Police Officer and a Senior and Principal Investigator in both the Northern Territory and Queensland, Naomi also holds a Diploma of Public Safety (Policing), Bachelor of Policing (Investigations),  commenced a Masters Professional Studies (Research) and has successfully completed many other leadership courses at University level. 

Naomi brings to the Equestrian Queensland Board experience in strategy and performance, and has worked in Support Services and Innovation roles.   In 2016 she was awarded a Leadership – Gold Award in the Queensland Police Service Awards for Excellence for her role in Task Force Bletchley which resulted in legislation change, and significant alterations to police methodologies and practice in Queensland.
