Newcomer HOTY – 

  1. Newcomer HOTY is open to horses and ponies which have NOT competed in any under saddle class at any event (excluding racing), which includes but is not limited to – breed, local, pony club, dressage, jumping etc. prior to 1st July 2020.  A Pony that has only competed in Leading Rein or Miniature Turnouts and has not competed off the lead is eligible to be considered a Newcomer. (As per National Show Horse rules)
  2. Any Newcomer must have started at it’s first show in QLD, to be eligible for EQ Newcomer classes
  3. Horses and ponies which have competed under saddle in any event in any state (excluding racing) prior to 1st July 2020 are not eligible to compete.
  4. All horses and ponies are to be ridden in a simple snaffle bridle. Nosebands may be cavesson, Hanoverian or drop, as per EA rules.
  5. Horses and ponies must be 3yrs of age or over at 1 August 2020
  6. All owners and riders and exhibitors and lessees must be current Competitor financial members at the time of entry.
  7. There is no domicile rule for Newcomer Horses and Ponies.
  8. Riders Membership must be competitor level
  9. All horses must have a Full Life Registration with EA  at the time of entries.
  10. Newcomer showing year is from 1st July 2020 – 30th June 2021
  11. Must have a current EA Height Certificate
