Biosecurity Webinar Replay

Equestrian Queensland and Biosecurity Queensland recently hosted a webinar to give an overview of the new biosecurity legislation that will come into effect in July 2016. For those who were unable to attend, we have provided a recording of this webinar.

As David discusses in the webinar, horse owners need to keep horse movement records- it does not matter how individual owners keep these records, whether it is in a diary, on their phone etc.

Event organisers are also required to keep records of the horses attending their events for 2 years. The easiest way of keeping these records is through a Horse Health Declaration. Equestrian Queensland have a HHD that event organisers can use- this contains all required information for event organisers and it is a requirement for all competitors to submit a HHD at events.

You can also use the EQ biosecurity plan template as a starting point for your own biosecurity plan. This template can be found here, along with other biosecurity resources you may find useful.

You can sign up to Biosecurity Queensland's biosecurity laws updates here and if you wish to sign up for any other Biosecurity newsletters you can sign up here.

Further information about the Act can be found here and a leaflet about the Act can be found here.
