Celebrating Women in Equestrian Sport
International Women’s Day | 8 March 2026
This Sunday we will celebrate International Women’s Day, and what better opportunity to recognise the incredible women who help shape equestrian sport across Queensland.
The recent Equestrian Queensland Annual Awards provided a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding achievements, dedication and leadership of many women within our sport. From athletes, grooms, owners and coaches to volunteers, officials and administrators, women play a vital role in the success and growth of the equestrian community.
While many sports continue to strive for gender equality, equestrian sport stands proudly as one where men and women compete together on an equal playing field, judged by the same standards and competing for the same titles.
Across the disciplines of Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Eventing, Interschool, Jumping, Show Horse and Vaulting, women contribute enormously to the strength and vibrancy of the sport. Their involvement extends far beyond the competition arena, with women leading, supporting and developing equestrian sport at every level.
Women play a significant role in positions such as volunteers, officials, coaches and committee members, dedicating their time, expertise and passion to support riders, competitions and the broader equestrian community across Queensland.
The EQ Annual Awards winners exemplify the passion, determination and leadership that women bring to our sport. Their achievements inspire the next generation of riders and demonstrate the strength and depth of talent within the equestrian community.
On this International Women’s Day, we acknowledge and celebrate the countless women who contribute to equestrian sport, from grassroots volunteers and dedicated parents to elite athletes and respected coaches.
Thank you to all the women who make equestrian sport in Queensland what it is today.
