Dressage Competition For Newcomers A Great Success

Sunshine Coast Riding Develops Abilities Equestrian Centre held their first Dressage Bridging Competiton for newcomers to Equestrian sports on the 5th of June.

This event was supported by Equestrian Queensland, Equestrian Australia & the Australian Sports Commission through a participation grant which aims to promote equestrian sport at grass roots level.

To make the event as close a possible to a ‘real’ competition, entries were done on Nominate.com  and the organisation offered copies of the tests for all classes with directions on how to find the rules and become familiar with the Equestrian Queensland website and all the wonderful information it offers.

Although the weather was a real challenge that weekend for most other sports events on the coast, our competition was able to go ahead as planned because of the fantastic weather proof sand outdoor arena and large indoor arena plus the new roomy club house facilities with glass windows overlooking the arena offering the large number of spectators very comfortable viewing conditions.

The 19 entrants rode in 38 classes. All were very new to dressage and appreciated the demonstration test ride with commentary at the start of the day.

Every one had a great day and are looking forward to more events in the near future.

Well done to all competitors and to Sunshine Coast Riding Develops Abilities Equestrian Centre for hosting this competition- what a fantastic opportunity for the participants!
