Get in the game funding opening soon

The Minister for Sport, Mick De Brenni MP has announced changes to Round 6 of the Get Playing Places and Spaces and Get Going Clubs grants.

These changes are based on industry feedback and to further support disaster affected clubs across Queensland.

Get Playing Places and Spaces - Opens 19 June

Get Playing Places and Spaces provides funding for infrastructure development so that more Queenslanders can be involved in sport and active recreation.

Eligible organisations can apply for up to $150,000 (GST exclusive).

Organisations will need to contribute a minimum of 20 per cent to the total eligible project costs unless the project is in a disaster declared Local Government Area for Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding events as per the Fact Sheet (PDF, 219KB). Applications are to be submitted online.

Get Going Clubs - Opens 19 June

Get Going Clubs provides funding to support not-for-profit local sport and recreation organisations to create and provide access to participation opportunities for Queenslanders.

Eligible not-for-profit sport and active recreation organisations can apply for funding of up to $7,500 (GST exclusive).

Further changes to both programs include:

  • Increasing the Round 6 Get Playing Places and Spaces budget by $4 million (from $11m to now $15m)
  • Increased the maximum funding available for Get Playing Places and Spaces from $100,000 to $150,000 to help clubs with the costs of building infrastructure.
  • Organisations seeking support for funding from Get Playing Places and Spaces for projects in disaster declared Local Government Areas (LGAs) will not need to contribute to the project, unless the total project cost is above $150,000, and projects requesting funding as a result of damage will be prioritised through the assessment process.
  • Organisations funded in Round 5 of Get Going Clubs that would usually not be eligible for funding in Round 6 but are within disaster declared LGAs will now be able to apply.
