The call has gone out for people to raid their underwear-drawer for pink bras and blue jocks. Donations are wanted to make up 250 metres of bunting for the cross country course at this years Queensland International Three Day Event (QI3DE), 28th - 31st August, Morgan Park, Warwick.

Pink Bras and Blue Jocks founder Deborah Wheeler said the charity is teaming up with QI3DE to raise awareness and much needed money to help make life easier for people receiving treatment.

“All money raised will go directly to the Mater 'chicks in pink' and The Wesley Hospital's Prostate Cancer Service, for things like care packs, car parking, house cleaning, counselling services, mastectomy bras and wigs.  It's all about raising awareness and having Pink Fillies and Blue Stallions supporting each other,” said Wheeler.

“We’ll be collecting gold coin donations over the course of the event, and on the Sunday (31st August), there’ll be a 5km Fun Run. Participants are encouraged to join in on the fun run and walk event, dressed in pink and blue to show their support.

"Everyone is welcome - mums and daughters, dads and sons, people walking their dogs on a lead and we love to see school children out and about with their families and friends. Participants can to stay for breakfast at the Athletes Cafe.

As part of the fun, 250 meter bunting made from pink bras and blue jocks will be strung around the equestrian cross country course.

“We’ve already started collecting, but we need donations – pink bras and blue undies!” Ms Wheeler said.

QI3DE President Dr Cameron Osborne said not only will the bunting have a practical application, but also it’s a great way to help the charity.

“The bunting will be used on the cross country course, so the crowds know where they can safely stand to watch the horses and riders in action. It’ll be a great fun visual spectacle, and we hope to raise awareness and some much needed funds for the charity,” Dr Osborne said.

The International level 3 Day Event is expected to draw a crowd of around 2,000 people to Morgan Park, Warwick as Australia’s top riders compete in dressage, cross country and showjumping. Also thrown in the mix will be bragging rights as the Queensland and New South Wales teams battle it out in the State of Origin on horseback.
