Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship 2026- APPLICATIONS OPEN
The Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship is an annual Scholarship and is awarded to a very deserving Young Rider who has the talent and dedication in either dressage or eventing, but needs financial assistance to purchase a horse of their dreams. Cheryl O’Brien from Remi Stud has put together a great team of Supporters to help make this dream come true for one lucky young rider.
This Scholarship has been offered for 14 years now, and is an amazing opportunity for a young rider to have entry into the equestrian industry with support from a variety of wonderful sponsors. This year’s Scholarship includes the ownership of a purpose bred Hanoverian weanling by Remi Braveheart (Qld 4 y/o Young Horse of the Year, Novice Horse of the Year, and overall Champion Young Horse of the Year 2025; Brisbane CDI, Willinga CDI and Aust Dressage Championships 5 y/o Champion 2026; now winning at Medium level with scores over 70%), plus a sponsorship package which includes feed from Prydes Easifeed; a saddle, saddlecloth and bridle from Edwards Saddleworld; 10 weeks training by Lord Dressage when the horse turns three years old; life registration with Equestrian Queensland; show product from Dr Show; riding apparel from Horse In The Box; rug from Gala Equine, veterinary care from Westvets; registration and merchandise from the HHSA; transport from Manuel Equine Transport; $500 Equilibrium set; farrier care from Adam Dolman Farrier; $1500 product from Kelato Animal Health, and support from Equestrian Australia and the Brisbane CDI. An exciting change was made to the Scholarship in 2023, with the age for the Applicants now being from the beginning of the year in which they turn 15 to the end of the year in which they turn 25. This change will allow riders already in the equestrian industry to enter a more talent based Scholarship.

2013: ISABELLA WILKINSON-McINTYRE from Brisbane, Qld, was the inaugural winner, and was awarded the black gelding, REMI LIVINGSTONE S by Lauries As (imp) / Lanthan (Ger).
2014: ALEXANDRA BARLOW from Yeppoon, Qld, was given the brown filly REMI LIBERTY BELLE S by Lauries As (imp) / Fishermans Friend (imp).
2015: JORDYN FAINT an eventer from Londonderry in NSW, received the brown gelding REMI FALL GUY S, who was donated as a tribute to the outstanding stallion Fishermans Friend (imp)
2016: GEORGE GROVER, also an eventer from Tasmania, was awarded the dark brown gelding, REMI LORD OF THE VALE S by Lauries As (imp) / Court Musician xx
2017: OLIVIA RUZSICSKA from Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory received the black colt REMI LAZZARINI S by Lauries As (imp) / EM Remi Burlesque by Belissimo M.
2018: SASKIA SMITH from Orange in New South Wales received the dark chestnut filly REMI LAURIES DREAM S by Lauries As (imp) / Remi Dreamcatcher by Desperados.
2019: CHARLOTTE STEPHENS from Samford, Qld, was the deserving winner in 2019, and was given the beautiful dark brown colt, Remi Lauristinus S by Lauries As (imp)/Fishermans Friend (imp),
2020: ELISE PAYNE from Ourimbah, NSW, was the winner in 2020. She was awarded the beautiful filly, Remi Laurentia S by Lauries As (imp) from Remi Veuve Clicquot by Viscount. Because of the logistical challenge of Covid, we had a virtual presentation to Elise.
2021: AMELIA DART from NSW, received the first foal to be donated by our young Hanoverian stallion, Remi Vigneron, the chestnut gelding Remi Virtual Star S. He is the last of 11 foals from our wonderful Premium & Elite Mare Remi Wolkenstar by Wolkenstein II.
2022: GEORGIA CREED the “Bush Kid” from Biloela, Qld, was the winner in 2022. She was awarded the lovely gelding, Remi Valdemar S by Remi Vigneron from Remi Viscountess.
2023: AMY BACHMANN from Victoria was the winner in 2023. She was awarded the lovely gelding, Remi Valentino S by Remi Vigneron from Best Foot Forward xx
These 11 youngsters have already been put under saddle by Matthew Lord, and are well on their way to represent all the sponsors in their respective disciplines.
2024: BELLA PLUMRIDGE from Victoria, was awarded the gorgeous Remi Vigneron chestnut gelding, REMI VENTURO S from Davrol Salsa by Scolari. He will be going under saddle later this year.
2025: MOLLY FARRAN from Byrneside in Victoria was the winner in 2025. She was awarded the lovely brown gelding, REMI BE BRAVE S by Remi Braveheart from Pr Mare Remi Déjà Vu by Don Martillo/Remi Beyonce by Benicio.
This year’s Scholarship foal would particularly suit dressage and will be a very exciting addition to any competitive stable.
EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSIDERATION FOR THE REMI STUD YOUNG RIDER SCHOLARSHIP 2026
To be considered for the receipt of this amazing scholarship valued at over $40,000, riders should complete the application form below and submit it to Cheryl O'Brien at [email protected]
Applicants are eligible from the beginning of the year in which they turn 15 to the end of the year in which they turn 25.
Applicants should provide the following information to accompany their application form:
- An application letter describing why you believe you would be a worthy recipient of the scholarship - this should include current training level; short, medium and long term goals in the equestrian industry; and information regarding how this scholarship would support your future goals
- A letter from your parent or guardian stating that they approve of your application, why they think you would benefit from the Scholarship, and that they are prepared to commit the time and support necessary to care for the horse
- A letter from your current coach supporting your application, and stating why they think you would benefit from the Scholarship, and stating how they will be involved in the preparation of this young horse
- Your best 3 dressage scores and at what competition level, in the past 12 months (a video of a test would be welcome, but not necessary).
Applications must be received by 25th August, 2026. Successful finalists will be notified by email and will be required to attend the Brisbane CDI on 19th September, 2026, when the winner will be announced and presentations made.
