VALE Holger Schmorl

Equestrian Queensland extends our condolences to the family of Holger Schmorl, of Kinnordy Hanoverian Stud, who passed away recently.

Holger and his wife Melanie moved their family and their horses to the Darling Downs in 1983 from Hanover, Germany.

He was a successful breeder of world-class dressage, show jumping and eventing horses, some of whom have gone on to represent Australia.

Holger was respected across the industry worldwide and a pioneer of sporthorse breeding in Australia. The legacy of his breeding will be seen for many years to come.

While he could be difficult with people, Holger was passionate about the industry and devoted to his horses.  He died at home in Toowoomba beside his beloved stallion Gymnastik Star.

His passing is a sad loss to the industry.
