Show Horse Membership- Rule 5.4

To all Show Horse members,

As advised in our post a few days ago, we have endeavoured to get a definitive answer to the membership issue.

Unfortunately we have not received confirmation of our interpretation of 5.4 (below) of the National Show Horse rule.

With that in mind we recommend for those Show Horse members whose desire is to qualify and compete at the Nationals that you renew your membership by 31 January!

We will continue to liaise with EA and the National Show Horse Committee to ensure this matter is clarified for future events.

Rule 5.4.

Any horse, rider or owner that qualify to compete and the Australasian Show Horse Championships must maintain full current membership up to and including the duration of the Championships in that calendar year. If membership is not maintained they forfeit their right to compete at the Championships.

Several members have also asked whether horses need to be EA registered by 31 January. We would like to direct you to rule 4.7 of the National Show Horse Rules

Rule 4.7

Horses/Ponies must be Equestrian Australia registered and domiciled in that State (including where appropriate within a 100 km radius of a border) for a total period of 3 months immediately preceding the date of that State’s Horse of the Year event. However, if the horse has not competed under saddle (with the exception of horse racing) in any state prior to purchase and is registered and eligible/qualified in the state in which it is to compete by closing date of entries it shall be eligible to compete in that respective state’s Horse of the Year event.
