Above and Beyond - 2022 Hygain Interschool Qld State Championships

Let's acknowledge the great people in our sport!

During the 2022 Hygain Interschool Queensland State Championships, we wanted to highlight the special people and moments within our equestrian community that embody good sportsmanship and kindness as well as three of our EQ core values of Fairness, Respect and Integrity.

We asked anyone that witnessed a moment that went above and beyond during the event to let us know so that we could acknowledge that person. This initiative was open to the whole IQ community including fellow riders, parents, officials and volunteers. We wanted to shine a spotlight on the excellence within our sport.

The name of every person nominated went into a random draw to win the stunning Calico Pony print 'The Gelding', The draw was made during final presentation on Friday 1 July.

Congratulations to Emma Twine who was the winner of the Calico Pony print!

"They are kind and thoughtful and is always willing to help out when people are in need, and a lot of the time puts other people instead of herself. This is also her last year and she will be very muchly missed."

"For unexpectedly helping me with show preparation and cheering me on. We won State Champion and she was so giving of her time."

"For sacrificing his own family time to help run a jumping ring"

"They were out with an injured horse for most competitions this year but has been out to every single interschool event the team has competed at, to help out and support despite their disappointing circumstances"

"He has worked tirelessly for the duration of the event raking and watering rings for showjumping. As well as assisting with set up and pack up. Always willing to lend a hand with a smile"

"My daughter was struggling with her first interschool States, and had been having issues with confidence and with her horse. They took the time to answer my daughter's questions, give her pointers, explain things and even popped her over some jumps"

"They showed great respect and kindness by course walking multiple courses with my primary school aged son and helping settle his nerves and teaching him ring craft in showjumping"

"She encourages every child. She is warm and friendly and will help everyone. Spending time with her you feel valued"

"Endless hours organising before and during the event and keeping a smile on her face!"

"Is always about with a cheerful face and her kindness to others is outstanding. Always willing to chat and set and listen to her peers"

"For continually year after year going over and above to organise a high class run event. So many hours volunteered. Always manages times for a chat no matter how busy he is"
