2023 Hygain Interschool Queensland State Championships Wrap

The 2023 Hygain Interschool Qld State Championships were held in Toowoomba at the end of June. Once again, this event was very strongly supported with over 250 riders and more than 300 horses participating in Dressage, Jumping, Show Horse and Combined Training over the 5 days of competition. We were lucky the Toowoomba weather was generally kind, with only the odd very cool day!

Thank you to our discipline sponsors; Gala Equine (Dressage) Edwards Saddleworld (Jumping) Hampton and Harlow (Combined Training) and County Saddlery Australia (Show Horse). Your continued support of Interschool Qld events is truly appreciated.

We would also like to thank Ipswich Girls' Grammar School, Aussie Blue Heeler Products, Favco, Quast Metal Fabrication, Fairholme College, Cavaleira Equestrian, Hi-Class Equestrian as well as Eurofloat, Oz Shotz Photography, The Horse Den & Queensland Off The Track for contributing to the ongoing success of this event.

Also a massive shout out to every member of the IQ committee and volunteers that worked many hours leading up to and during the event (and after!), we would like to take this opportunity to recognise their commitment and thank them all for their effort and time. Without you, we would simply not have an event!

The introduction of the EQ Next Gen Rider’s Retreat meant that handing in paperwork, checking in for volunteer roles and collecting arm bands and rider bags was an easy and streamlined process. We would like to thank those members of the EQ Next Gen group for manning the tent and providing refreshments and smiles to everyone.

In the lead up to the event, there were a couple of hiccups along the way for our State School riders, however in the end they were able to stand proud and represent their schools alongside every other rider at the State Championships. Their success was reflected in Goombungee State School winning the QISEA Primary School Trophy (primary school whose rider achieve the highest average score) and Taroom P-10 State School winning the Harry LeBherz perpetual Trophy (a primary school with the best aggregate result).

There would be no event without our Officials; we would like to thank our Judges, Course Designers, Stewards and Technical Delegate across the many disciplines for their time and expertise. Your input and guidance are greatly valued.

We especially would like to wish all the year 12 riders all the very best with their future equestrian endeavours and look forward to seeing some of you take advantage of the Coaching or Official pathways in Equestrian Sport. We would also like to recognise your participation and contribution to Interschool Queensland events and activities over previous years. We invite you to register to receive a Certificate of Recognition for your contribution to IQ via this LINK

Congratulations to all riders, horses and schools!
