IQ Qualifiers for 2016/17

IQ State Championship Qualifiers

The IQ Committee would like to advise its members that there have been changes to the qualifying criteria for Dressage, Jumping and Eventing for the 2016/17 competition year. The IQ Handbook will be revised in late 2016 however these changes are summarised below and detailed in the updated document on the Rules and Tests page of the website. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with the required criteria for these disciplines.

Dressage- A minimum of 3 test scores from at least 2 IQ competitions in the level you wish to compete. 2. At least one of the submitted scores is required to be a minimum of 58% with the other scores being a minimum of 55% (applies to all levels)

Year 12 and riders from regions requiring reduced qualifiers may submit 2 test scores from any IQ competition at their chosen level but one must be a minimum of 58% with the other score being a minimum of 55% (applies to all levels).

Jumping- A minimum of 4 IQ results from a minimum of 2 IQ competitions with the following results in the first round for all 4 results:

A-                  a minimum of 2 of the results must be clear rounds (0 faults)

B-                  a maximum of 4 faults for the other results

Year 12 and riders from regions requiring reduced qualifiers may submit only 2 results at the higher level (A)

Eventing- A minimum of 2 one day event results at any EA competition (this now includes EvA60) that achieve the following minimums:

A-      50% dressage results (percentage not penalties) with 0 (clear) XC jumping penalties, no more than 36 XC time penalties and no more than 8 total show jumping penalties.

And a second result at the same or higher level that achieves at least:

B-       50% dressage result (percentage not penalties) no more than 20 XC jumping penalties, no more than 36 XC time penalties and no more than 16 total show jumping penalties.

Year 12 and riders from regions requiring reduced qualifiers may submit only one qualifier at the higher level (A).

The qualifying criteria for all other disciplines will not change. Please remember that classes at the IQ State Championships will be capped. We recommend that riders begin gaining qualifiers as early as possible to ensure that you have the best possible qualifiers for the States. The balloting procedures for each discipline may be revised in the coming months, and all riders will be notified when the updated handbook is available.

Primary to Secondary Rider Transition

If a Year 6 rider is planning on competing at the same level for the rest of this year and the start of next year (to gain qualifiers for States) then they can continue riding for the remainder of Year 6 as a primary rider, and move into secondary classes when they move into Year 7. Providing they are riding at the same level, qualifying scores from both primary classes and secondary classes will be accepted as State qualifiers for these competitors.

However, if they are planning on competing at next years State Championships at a level that is ONLY available for secondary riders (for example Elementary Dressage) they can begin competing in secondary classes for the remainder of this year in order to gain sufficient qualifying scores for next years States.

Please remember that Eventing is based on age, not year level. For the minimum ages for Eventing, and State Qualifying Criteria for all sports please refer to the IQ Handbook.
