Equestrian Queensland COVID-19 Update

Further to the announcement earlier today by the Queensland Premier and Chief Health Officer, lockdown restrictions in greater South East Queensland ceased at 4:00pm today Sunday, 8 August 2021 with additional measures and restrictions in place.

Additionally, a lockdown for Cairns and Yarrabah Local Government Areas (LGAs) in North Queensland commenced at 4:00pm today for three days.

Equestrian Queensland (EQ) provides the below advice to members and affiliates:

  • Community sport is not permitted in the 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redlands, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Sunshine Coast for the next two weeks. Any EQ affiliated events or club organised activities scheduled in these locations over the next two weeks are to be suspended.
  • Members located in the 11 LGAs are strongly encouraged not to leave the area.
  • Gatherings at private properties and public spaces are restricted to 10 people in South East Queensland.
  • A club, subject to any landlord approval or conditions, may make its grounds available for individual recreational riding (not club organised activity) whilst complying with venue restrictions
    (Indoor - 1 person per 4 m2 &
    Outdoor - 1 person per 2 m2),
    physical distancing, contact tracing, face mask and hygiene protocols.
  • A club, subject to any landlord approval or conditions, may make its grounds available for a coach to conduct lessons whilst complying with venue restrictions
    (Indoor - 1 person per 4 m2 &
    Outdoor - 1 person per 2 m2),
    physical distancing, contact tracing, face mask and hygiene protocols.
  • A coach may deliver lessons (group lessons or clinics must comply with gathering restrictions of up to 10 people) whilst following physical distancing, contact tracing, face mask and hygiene protocols.
  • A coach located in South East Queensland is not prohibited from traveling outside of South East Queensland but should consider if it is necessary to do so in the next two weeks.
  • Face mask restrictions continue to apply.
