Queensland Off-The-Track Subsidised Lessons Program

Queensland Off-The-Track is launching its Subsidised Lessons Program and is seeking Expressions of Interest from Equestrian Australia Accredited Coaches who are located in Queensland to establish the program’s approved coaches database.

The Subsidised Lessons Program is a Queensland Off-The-Track initiative to support retired Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds as they transition from the racing industry into the community.

Participant Eligibility Criteria - The Subsidised Lessons Program is for:

  • Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds bred for racing, irrespective of whether they made it to the track
     
  • Standardbreds and Thoroughbreds that have been retired from racing and breeding for less than 12 months
     
  • Participants aged 17 years and older

QOTT will assess on a case-by-case basis:

  • Applications for horses that have retired for longer than 12 months
     
  • Applications from participants aged 16 years and under

As a Subsidised Lessons Program Approved Coach, you will be contracted and paid by Racing Queensland to provide up to ten (10) individual lessons of 45 minutes in duration to approved participants.

Each lesson is to be tailored to support the individual requirements and goals of the new owner of the retired Thoroughbred or Standardbred.

Coaching can be provided across a range of areas including horse care and husbandry, nutrition, behaviour, groundwork and ridden components.  

Fee Structure (per 45 minute lesson) –
Coaches will be required to invoice Racing Queensland following each lesson conducted:

Level 1 Coach - $75
Level 2 Coach - $85
Level 3 Coach - $95
