2026 Edwards Saddleworld Interschool Qld State Championships - Wrap Up
240 riders, 291 horses and 528 entries came together to make the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Interschool Queensland State Championships a spectacular celebration of competition, sportsmanship and the Interschool spirit.
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, riders, families, schools, officials, volunteers and supporters from across Queensland gathered at the Toowoomba Showgrounds for five unforgettable days of competition, friendship and achievement.
After battling challenging weather at last year's event, we were treated to glorious sunshine and beautiful winter conditions for the entire championship. The fantastic weather provided the perfect backdrop for an outstanding week of competition and made for an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
The championships commenced on Monday with Vaulting, the WestVETS Animal Hospitals Combined Training, and the first day of the Fitton HorseInsure Dressage Championships. Dressage competition continued through until Wednesday, showcasing the exceptional partnership, precision and dedication of Queensland's Interschool riders.
From Wednesday through Friday, attention turned to the exciting MGT Construction Show Jumping Championships, where competitors tackled courses in the MGT Construction Ring 1 on Dressage Park and in the Horseland Toowoomba Ring 2 in the Indoor Arena. On Thursday, the elegant County Saddlery Show Horse Competition highlighted the quality, presentation and turnout of horses and riders from across the state.
The Championships also provided the opportunity to celebrate some outstanding young equestrians beyond their competition results.

On Wednesday afternoon, during presentations, the winner of the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Leg Up Bursary was announced. The standard of applications was exceptionally high, with judges praising the passion, dedication and horsemanship demonstrated by every applicant.
Congratulations to our three outstanding finalists:
- Amy Renton
- Lucia Lambert
- Mya Lorenz
A huge congratulations to Amy Renton, who was named the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Leg Up Bursary recipient, receiving an incredible support package valued at more than $20,000 to assist with her future equestrian journey.
On Thursday afternoon, Bryanne Mearns, Trainer for the UQ Skills Diploma of Equine Management, presented the UQ Skills 'Beyond the Arena' Award. This prestigious award recognises riders who demonstrate excellence not only in the competition arena, but also through horsemanship, commitment to learning, leadership and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Cyana Titman, who was announced as the 2026 recipient, receiving a $3,000 tuition credit towards the Diploma of Equine Management (ACM50421) at UQ Skills, redeemable for enrolment through to the 2028 intake. The quality of applications was outstanding, reflecting the exceptional calibre of Queensland's Interschool riders both on and off their horses.

While the competition in the arenas was outstanding, there was plenty happening away from them as well. A huge thank you to Fairholme College for hosting the Monday evening Movie Night featuring Ride Like A Girl . Wednesday night's Silent Disco, proudly supported by The Good People, was an enormous success, with riders and families enjoying a fun-filled evening that had everyone dancing and singing the night away.
The State Championships are about much more than competition. They are a celebration of sportsmanship, friendship, horsemanship and the incredible Interschool Queensland community. Throughout the week, riders demonstrated resilience, determination and respect both in and out of the arena, creating lifelong memories and friendships along the way.
Events of this scale simply would not happen without the support of an extraordinary team working behind the scenes.
To our Interschool Queensland committee, officials, stable and camping managers, volunteers, pencillers, SIM team, Code 1 medical team, photographers and media team, trade exhibitors and food vendors, every person who generously gave their time and expertise—thank you. Your dedication, professionalism and countless volunteer hours are what make these championships possible year after year.
A sincere thank you also goes to the parents, coaches, schools and supporters whose encouragement and commitment help our riders achieve their goals.
Finally, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible sponsors. Your generosity and continued support enable Interschool Queensland to deliver a championship of this calibre. Whether through financial support, prizes, services or resources, your contribution helps create an unforgettable experience for every competitor. We are sincerely grateful for your investment in our riders and in the future of equestrian sport.
Congratulations to every rider who qualified and competed at the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Interschool Queensland State Championships. Whether you achieved a personal best, earned a championship sash, stood on the podium or simply fulfilled the goal of competing at a State Championship, you should be immensely proud of your achievements.
Thank you to everyone who played a part in making the 2026 Edwards Saddleworld Interschool Queensland State Championships such an outstanding success. We look forward to welcoming you back to Toowoomba next year for another fantastic celebration of Interschool equestrian sport.
As we close another memorable State Championships, we also take a moment to recognise an important milestone. While many riders were proudly competing at their very first Interschool Queensland State Championships and beginning what we hope will be many years of wonderful memories, for over 30 Year 12 riders, this year's event marked the end of their Interschool Queensland journey.
To each of our graduating Year 12 competitors, thank you for the passion, dedication and sportsmanship you have brought to our Interschool community. Whether you have represented your school for one year or many, you have helped shape the spirit of these championships and inspired those coming through the ranks.
We wish you every success as you embark on your next chapter. May the friendships you've made, the lessons you've learned and the memories you've created through Interschool Queensland remain with you for years to come. We hope your love of horses and equestrian sport continues to grow, and that we will see many of you back in the sport as competitors, coaches, officials, volunteers or supporters in the future.
Congratulations to our graduating Year 12 riders, and thank you for being part of the Interschool Queensland family. We wish you all the very best in your future equestrian and personal endeavours.
Please let us know if we have inadvertently missed acknowledging any Year 12 riders so we can ensure everyone receives the recognition they deserve.
